The Karen Jo Curtis Memorial Scholarship

Description

The Karen Jo Curtis Memorial Scholarship honors Karen Jo Curtis by awarding a $500 scholarship to a deserving Air Force ROTC cadet. Karen would have graduated May 1987 and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Karen had a dream of flying jets and was preparing to get her private pilot's license in the summer of 1986. Sadly, Karen died in an accident in the summer of 1986 at the age of 25. Karen's legacy is being carried on at ASU through the annual award of this scholarship in her name.

Criteria

  • Evidence of some financial need.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.
  • Junior or senior cadet.
  • Letter of application, including statement of career plans and interests.

The Sue Strauch Scholarship Award of Excellence

Description

The Sue Strauch Scholarship Award of Excellence is awarded on behalf of Sue Strauch, a current staff member of Detachment 025 and a trusted friend and advisor of our cadets. This scholarship recognizes the special bond between Sue Strauch and the cadets of Det 025 and awards two $500 book scholarships, to a deserving junior and senior.

Criteria

  • Must be a cadet enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program; no "conditional status" cadets may receive the award.
  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Recipients must meet physical, academic and military standards and demonstrate financial need.

The Air Force Endowment Scholarship

Description

The Air Force Endowment Scholarship awards approximately $500 annually to a deserving cadet.

Criteria

  • Must be a freshman or sophomore cadet enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program.
  • Award based on overall military and academic performance in the Detachment.

The Tempe Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Description

The Tempe Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee awards a $500 scholarship to a deserving cadet.

Criteria

  • Awarded to the top-performing cadet successfully returning from a summer Field Training Unit (FTU).
