Enrollment and Orientation

The Fall 2024 New Student Orientation (NSOP) date is currently scheduled for Thursday, 15 August 2024 with check-in beginning at 0730.  We will meet on the ASU Tempe campus in the atrium of the Social Sciences Building; 951 Cady Mall, Tempe, AZ 85281.  Please ensure steps 1-4 listed below are completed two weeks prior to the orientation date.

Uniform of the Day (UOD) for Orientation:

Incoming students attending orientation should wear the UOD: Navy blue polo, khaki pants, black belt, black socks, black shoes and black face mask (per ASU guidance). No hats shall be worn. All male students should be clean shaven. Further details about grooming standards will be explained throughout the beginning of the semester to incoming cadets.

Required Items for New Student Orientation

1. Birth Certificate (Must Be Original Copy)
2. Social Security Card (Must Be Original Copy)
3. Personal Laptop or Tablet

Step 1 - Create an account in WINGS

Please visit the WINGS website and click on "Apply for AFROTC" to create an account in WINGS. 

After you have successfully created an account in WINGS, complete the "My AFROTC Application" within your WINGS profile. Follow the Application Guide for step-by-step instructions.

Please pay special attention to steps in 2.11, "Releases & Forms," and 2.11.1 of the Application Guide.

Step 2 - Register for Classes

Please visit the Class Sign-Up Page for instructions on registering for AFROTC classes.

*NOTE* All students are required to register for Aerospace Studies, Leadership Laboratory, and Physical Training (AES 294).

Step 3 - Enrollment Application

Complete the Enrollment Application. The form will walk you through the required steps and will prevent you from submitting the applications unless all required fields are populated. Select "Finish" once you are complete.

One of the documents requested within the application is the AFROTC Form 28, which is required to participate in AES 294: Air Force Physical Fitness Training. If you are unable to have a provider sign the Form 28, you may provide a traditional sports physical in its place.

Another form requested is the Courtesy Affiliate Form. *NOTE* This is only required for crosstown students, those attending a university other than Arizona State University as their school of primary attendance (i.e. Grand Canyon University, Glendale Community College, etc.).

*IMPORTANT* If you are under the age of 18 as of the date submitting the application, you will be required to have a parent accompany you to New Student Orientation to sign the applicable forms. Another acceptable solution is to have your required forms notarized and brought with you to New Student Orientation.

Step 4 - DoDMERB Form

Complete the DoDMERB Form. DoDMERB stands for "Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board" and is the medical process all cadets must undergo to be evaluated for military service. Continuation in the ROTC program is dependent on receiving a qualified medical evaluation through DoDMERB.
